Sprogley Motorsport Lower Control Arm Brake Cooling Kit - MQB & MQB EVO
Sprogley Motorsport lower control arm brake cooling kit for the MQB & MQB EVO platform.
Notes
- Please allow up to 4 weeks for dispatch
- Cars with OEM arms and the height level sensor on the front control arm should avoid making full lock turns where possible, as the ducting can get squashed between the level sensor bracket and roll bar.
Product Features
- Specially designed lower control arm brake cooling ducts to fit a variety of lower control arms for the MQB platform
- Large inlet surface area and flow-formed design (in the same way we design our class-leading enclosed intakes) to direct as much air as possible through the duct and into the brakes
- Very effective cooling to the disk and pads
- Fibre-reinforced ABS plastic construction makes for very durable parts that will withstand any temperature, climate, chemicals and impacts the ducts will ever be subjected to. These are made to last!
- Perfect fitment for every choice of control arm
- Aluminium backing plates designed to work with almost every disk option out there, from stock 340mm disks to BTCC AP racing disks
- All hardware is included - it is a complete bolt-on solution that is completely reversible. Installation is very simple with minimal mechanical experience and basic tools
Kit Includes
- 2x (1 pair) of lower arm brake cooling ducts for your selected control arm
- 2x (1 pair) of aluminium backing plates

Sprogley Motorsport lower control arm brake cooling kit for the MQB platform
With nearly a decade of experience designing and 3D printing brake cooling solutions for track cars, it was only a matter of time before we came up with a solution for the MQB platform. We have put everything we know about designing and manufacturing a product of this nature, as well as our personal experience with our own Mk7 and Mk8 Golf development cars into our new kit for the MQB platform.
There are a few aspects that make a good, efficient brake cooling kit. The first is how the air enters the duct. With the space available and ensuring no one would run into clearance issues, we have designed a duct with a huge surface area, that not only sits under the control arm, but also rises up in front of it. What use is air bouncing off your control arms? The large inlet of the duct is focused down and compressed into a 51mm outlet, guided by an internal fin that keeps everything smooth and flowing in the right direction.
The CNC cut and powdercoated backing plates direct the air right to the centre of the disk, where the vains of the disk suck the cool air through, drastically and evenly cooling the brake disk and subsequently the brake pads. We have designed our backing plate in a way that 100% of the air ends up inside your disk, and is not aimed at the inner disk face. This is only possible with a 51mm outlet, due to the space constraints of the hub. Not only does this mean all the air from the duct is being used effectively inside the disk, but the kit is not cooling the inner disk face more than the outer, which can lead to cracks.
All this combined equates to fantastic brake cooling on track. We have recorded 20+ degrees C reductions in brake disk temperatures and over 50+ degrees C reductions in brake pad temperatures when testing this kit on a Mk7 Golf GTI track car.
We have designed a cutout in our backing plates so there will be no clearance issues with any type of camber increasing ball joints, something that many are familiar with when fitting some big brake kits.
This kit has also been designed to be fitted and removed as easily as possible, so whether you are an experienced mechanic or a complete novice with very basic tools at home, you can fit your brake cooling kit in as little as 30-60 minutes (literally!) If you ever come to sell your car, it is equally as easy to remove, requiring no modifications to any factory components.
