CAD & 3D printing services by Sprogley Motorsport

At Sprogley, we can offer a Computer Aided Design and 3D printing service for you as an individual, or your company. No matter how big or small the project, we are happy offer our technology and services to help you go from an idea to a physical part or product. We are fully aware of how expensive getting parts made can be, so we would love to use our machines to give you a cost effecting production method.

The two services we have to offer are CAD work (designing 3D models) and 3D printing, turning those 3D models into a physical part.

To give you a rough idea of how long things take to design and print, here's a brief guide. Functional parts that are created from dimensions are fairly quick to design. The most cost effective method would be to provide us with as many dimensions as possible, or even better, a 2D technical drawing. We use these dimensions to extrude the drawing into a 3D model, which can then be printed. The more technical a part is, the longer it will take to design, but generally simple parts shouldn't take much longer than 1-3 hours. You can also send a part to us that we can use to measure and build your part from.

Organic forms can take much longer to design, and we would generally advise against using this service as it can become very expensive. The process of designing an organic shape can be much more complex, as dimensions cant be used to form the 3D shape. Simple organic shapes (such as cookie cutters, vases, stationary holders ect) are cost effective and don't take much longer than technical parts to design. See below examples.

Once we have a finished 3D model, we then upload that model to what is called a slicing software. This converts a 3D model into 'G-code' that our printers can understand. By doing so, we can adjust various settings to speed up/slow down, or increase and decrease part quality. From there, our software will tell us approximately how long the part is going to take to print. We can use this to give you a price before the model hits the printer, in case you decide to change your mind, or you aren't happy with the cost.

Once the part is finished, it will be photographed and sent out to you prior to being carefully packaged ready for posting. We can either send it to yourself, or directly to your customers with the appropriate paperwork from yourself.
